Joseph J. Rochel
Producer | Director
Joseph Rochel isn’t just a filmmaker, event producer, or media strategist—he’s a guy who believes in excellence, legacy, and storytelling that actually matters.
A U.S. Army veteran, Joseph served as a Chaplain’s Assistant in Baghdad, Iraq, where he saw firsthand the power of storytelling, leadership, and perseverance—values that continue to drive his work today. During his time in Baghdad, he worked extensively with the MWR (Moral, Welfare, and Recreation) division of the Army, producing large-scale morale events to bring moments of joy and connection to troops in a war zone.
His productions included the Broadway musical "Godspell," the highly popular "I-Rock Iraq" karaoke show, which was featured in the Army Times, and multiple concerts and comedy performances. His first published photo in The New York Times was from one of the many morale-boosting events he helped produce. Joseph also played a key role in bringing top entertainers like Drowning Pool, Toby Keith, and comedian Michael McDonald from "Mad TV" to perform in Baghdad, creating experiences that uplifted and inspired soldiers stationed in a high-stress environment.
Over the last 20+ years, Joseph has built a career in event production, photography, and filmmaking, working with top-tier brands, athletes, and businesses to bring high-impact stories to life. His work isn’t about just creating content—it’s about creating a lasting impact.
Beyond his media work, Joseph is first and foremost a devoted father to his two beautiful children, Jackson and Jaelynn. Being a parent is the most important role in his life, shaping his perspective on everything he does. He understands the struggles, joys, and responsibilities that come with raising children, especially as a single father, and he strives to lead by example—teaching his kids the values of strength, kindness, perseverance, and faith.
This deep connection to fatherhood is what fuels his passion for advocating for single parents. As the host of the Average Joe Podcast, he facilitates raw, unfiltered conversations on parenting, relationships, and resilience. His mission is to provide a platform for single parents to share their stories, find support, and navigate the challenges of modern parenthood.
In addition to podcasting, Joseph is actively working within the mental health space, producing content that raises awareness and fosters community healing. He believes that media is not just a tool for storytelling but a powerful force for social impact and positive change.
Joseph’s passion for excellence, integrity, and storytelling extends to everything he does. Whether behind the camera, on the mic, or working with organizations to create meaningful change, one thing is certain—he’s here to build something that lasts.
